Think you’ve got what it takes to be America’s Next Top Model? You’re not alone — so do hundreds of other women in the D.C. area and thousands around the country.

But if you don’t mind the long odds and want to audition anyway, a casting call is being held at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City mall next weekend. Fill out this application and bring it along with a driver’s license or identification card between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 9.

In addition to seeking Top Model contestants, WDCW-TV (DC 50) is also looking for a models for a Macy’s Fashion show that evening and for a “Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle Expo” in September. Even if you don’t get picked, there will be prizes, giveaways and — of course — free psychic readings and massages.

Contestants must be between 18 and 27 years old.

Henri Bendel, an upscale women’s specialty store, is coming to the Pentagon City mall.

The NYC-based retailer currently operates 11 stores nationwide, including its flagship Manhattan store on Fifth Avenue. Founded in 1895, Henri Bendel sells fashion accessories, cosmetics, fragrances, gifts and gourmet foods. It stopped selling clothing in 2009.

The company says it expects the Pentagon City store to open in September 2011. The store itself is located on the second level, next to Victoria’s Secret.

Now in its third year, Crystal Couture can pretty safely be called Arlington’s premiere annual fashion event. (Due partially to a lack of competition for the title.)

Couture will be held from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. every night from Feb. 1 to 5. Organizers released additional details today about the event’s schedule and the designers and boutiques that will be participating (see below).

In keeping with Crystal City’s use of vacant space as an event venue, Couture is relocating this year from an formerly unleased retail space (which is now a Buffalo Wild Wings) to the abandoned Crystal City Food Court at 1750 Crystal Drive.

Event Schedule:

  • February 1 – Host, Philippa Hughes, Pinkline Project – T-Shirt Design Contest
  • February 2 – Host, Bianca Chardei, America’s Next Top Model Contestant
  • February 3 – Host, Karen Sommer Shallett, DC Modern Luxury
  • February 4 – Host DJ Sarah Fraser from HOT 99.5 – Go Red for Women
  • February 5 – Closing bash hosted by Bisnow – The Scene

Crystal Couture is back for “five nights of fabulous fashion, fun and festivities” in Crystal City.

Now in its third year, the event will feature “runway shows, local DJs, open bar, free snacks, free makeovers from makeup artists and hair stylists – and more,” according to organizers.

In a big change, however, Couture will be changing locations — from a formerly vacant storefront, now occupied by Buffalo Wild Wings, to the abandoned food court at 1750 Crystal Drive.

Wait, an abandoned food court?

Actually, it’s all in keeping with Crystal City BID’s habit of transforming vacant spaces into venues for hip events. The Crystal City Shops food court will be “totally transformed into a rocking runway space with great lighting, a lounge and more than 20 fabulous fashion boutiques,” say organizers.

Crystal Couture will be held from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. every night from Feb. 1-5.

The kick-off event on Feb. 1 will feature a T-shirt design contest (applications are currently being accepted). The Feb. 4 event will be held in honor of National Wear Red Day and will be hosted by HOT 99.5 DJ Sarah Fraser
