JUST IN: Firefighters Extinguish Rosslyn Condo Fire

(Updated at 4 p.m.) Arlington firefighters extinguished a kitchen fire at a Rosslyn condo building this afternoon (Thursday).

The fire broke out around 2:45 p.m. today at 1530 Key Blvd, home of the Atrium Condominiums, per scanner traffic.

It started in a home on the seventh floor and firefighters were able to extinguish it shortly afterward.

No word yet on any injuries.

Firefighters Extinguish Ashton Heights Blaze

Arlington firefighters extinguished an attic fire in Ashton Heights last night (Wednesday).

First responders were called to the scene of a blaze at 300 N. Oakland Street around 7 p.m. yesterday. They were able to extinguish it soon afterward.

Firefighters say no one was injured as a result of the blaze.

The house fire was one of two that first responders had to extinguish last night.

UPDATED: Firefighters Extinguish Bluemont House Fire

Arlington firefighters extinguished a house fire in Bluemont this afternoon.

First responders received a call about the blaze in a home along the 5600 block of 7th Street N. around 3:40 p.m. today (Wednesday). The fire was concentrated in the kitchen, per scanner traffic.

No one was inside the home when the fire started, and there were no injuries as a result of the blaze, a fire department spokesman said. However, the department did dispatch an extra medic unit to the scene, due to the heat, the spokesman said.

Fire at Retirement Home — A fire broke out in the laundry room of the Sunrise at Bluemont Park senior assisted living facility Sunday morning. The blaze was quickly extinguished, but not before filling part of the building with smoke. No injuries were reported. [Twitter]

Road Closed Due to Downed Tree — Williamsburg Blvd is closed at N. Westmoreland Street due to a tree that fell overnight and took down several utility lines with it. Arlington’s emergency management office says the closure “may last through evening rush hour.” [Twitter]

Reminder: DUI Checkpoint Tonight — The Arlington County Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in an undisclosed location tonight. “Officers will stop all vehicles passing through the checkpoint and ask to see the licenses of drivers. Any driver suspected of operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be directed to a safe area off the roadway for further observation.” [Arlington County]

JUST IN: Firefighters Extinguish Blaze in Ballston Townhome

Arlington firefighters extinguished a fire at a Ballston townhome this afternoon (Friday).

First responders were called to the 600 block of N. Oxford Street, near Mosaic Park, for a blaze around 3:15 p.m.

The fire was concentrated in the basement, and extinguished without incident. No injuries resulted from the fire.

The fire marshal is still investigating the exact cause of the blaze, but scanner traffic suggests it started due to a washer or dryer in the basement.

BREAKING: Firefighters Extinguish Arlington Ridge House Fire

Arlington firefighters extinguished a house fire in Arlington Ridge this afternoon (Friday).

First responders were called to a home along the 1100 block of 21st Street S. over reports of a structure fire around 4 p.m.

The blaze was concentrated on the rear deck of the house, and the homeowner managed to make it out of the building without injury.

BREAKING: Fire Breaks Out in Pentagon City Apartment Building

Arlington firefighters are working to extinguish a blaze at a Pentagon City apartment complex.

First responders were called to a building along the 800 block of 15th Street S., adjacent to the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, around 5 p.m. today (Wednesday).

Firefighters believe the blaze started on the eighth floor of the building, according to a tweet from the department, and they were able to quickly extinguish it.

There’s no word yet on any traffic impact or injuries.

BREAKING: Firefighters Extinguish Blaze in Virginia Square

Arlington firefighters have been called to the scene of a kitchen fire at an apartment building in Virginia Square.

First responders managed to extinguish a blaze at a two-story garden apartment building along the 3600 block of Wilson Blvd around 4 p.m. today (Monday).

The work has prompted the closure of one block of Wilson Blvd in both directions as firefighters secure the scene, according to a tweet from county police.

There’s no word yet on the cause of the fire or if anyone was inside the building.

Firefighters Extinguish House Fire in Leeway-Overlee

Firefighters extinguished a blaze in a home in the Leeway-Overlee neighborhood this afternoon (Wednesday).

County first responders were called to the 62oo block of 22nd Road N. to put out the fire. The fire was mostly concentrated in the attic, according to scanner traffic.

The home’s occupants managed to leave without incident after the fire started, according to a tweet from the fire department.
