Arlington County police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing local resident.

Police say Katherine Hawald went missing Thursday afternoon and hasn’t been seen since. She is considered “critically missing” because of a health condition.

Hawald’s brother told ARLnow.com that she is a Yorktown High School and Virginia Tech grad, and a “beloved sister, daughter, and friend.”

She “simply vanished while visiting Lee-Heights shopping center on the early afternoon of November 9,” said Michael Hawald. “No social media or a cell phone, no car, and $100.00 cash.”

The Arlington County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a critically missing adult. Katherine Hawald, 28, was last seen leaving a residence in the 4100 block of 27th Street N. at approximately 2:00 p.m. on November 9.

Ms. Hawald is described as a white female, 5’2″ tall, weighing 128 pounds, has brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans. She is without her medication and may be in need of medical treatment.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Ms. Hawald is asked to contact the Emergency Communication Center at 703.558.2222. Tips may also be provided to Detective R. A teen considered “critically missing” and possibly in need of medical attention has just been found, according to police.

The 15-year-old boy was last seen around 8 p.m. tonight in the Lyon Park neighborhood before going missing, prompting a countywide alert and press release (below) from Arlington County Police. Officers canvassed the neighborhood and called in the Fairfax County Police helicopter to assist with the search.

The boy was found shortly before 9:45 p.m., according to ACPD spokeswoman Ashley Savage.

The Arlington County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing 15 year-old juvenile. [Redacted] was last seen at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16 in the 2100 block of Washington Boulevard. He was wearing a charcoal gray hoodie, blue jeans and brown boots. He is known to frequent the Ballston area. Mr. [Redacted] is considered critically missing and may be in need of medical services. Arlington police is seeking the public’s help to find a 16-year-old who went missing on the afternoon of May 9 after getting off a school bus.

Jessica Baires was last seen at the intersection of N. Pershing Drive and N. Thomas Street in Buckingham.

She is described as a Hispanic female with fair complexion, brown eyes and long curly brown hair. She is 5-foot-3 tall and weighs approximately 132 pounds. She was last seen wearing dark blue jeans and black shoes.

Police said detectives have canvased the area, spoken with her family and friends and followed up on leads but have been unable to find her.

Update at 11:20 p.m. — The missing woman was found safely earlier this evening.

Arlington County Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing 77-year-old woman last seen in Pentagon City.

Police say Dorothy Getsey was last seen around noon today at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City mall. She was there on a group bus trip of Vietnam War veterans, according to scanner traffic.

“She was wearing all black clothing, a gray cross-body purse and has long gray hair,” police said in a press release. “Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Ms. Getsey is asked to call the Emergency Communication Center at 703-558-2222.”


Update at 4:35 p.m. — The man has been found, according to scanner traffic.

Earlier: Arlington police are searching for a man who went missing from the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City earlier this afternoon.

Paul Lowe, 41, was last seen at the mall at around 2 p.m. According to police, he is described as a light skinned black male, approximately 6-foot-2 with a slim build, bald with a small goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue plaid shirt with blue jeans. Lowe is described as having the mental capacity of a 10-year-old.

According to scanner traffic, Lowe was ejected from the mall by security guards, but they did not realize he has mental health issues. A friend who was with him reportedly said that while he likely does not have the ability to navigate Metro by himself, he is capable of operating crosswalks.

Police are currently scouring the mall and the surrounding area, including the Pentagon City Metro station, Pentagon Centre and Pentagon Row. K-9 units are on scene to assist with the search.

Anyone with information on Lowe’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Arlington County Police Department immediately at 703-558-2222.


Update 8:50 p.m. – Olga Price was found safely in Washington, D.C. earlier this afternoon, after being declared missing on Saturday morning.

Earlier: The Virginia State Police issued a senior alert earlier this morning on behalf of Arlington police, who are looking for a missing woman.

Olga Ann Price, 84, was last seen on April 14 at 8:30 p.m. at 1910 N. Randolph Street. She is 5-foot-4 and weighs approximately 180 pounds.

Police believe she is wearing a gold wedding ring, a gold necklace and a red Washington Nationals baseball cap.

Update at 4:40 p.m. — The missing teen has been found, according to police.

Earlier: The Arlington County Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a missing Wakefield High School student.

Police say a 14-year-old student hasn’t been seen since Tuesday morning, when he was dropped off at the school.

“He is described as a white Hispanic/Native American with short black hair and brown eyes, approximately 5’5″ tall and weighs 120 lbs,” according to a police press release. “Police believe he may be in the area of Union Station in Washington D.C.”

Woman Arrested in Williamsburg Murder Case — A 27-year-old Maryland woman has been arrested and charged with being an accessory to last month’s homicide at a house party in the Williamsburg neighborhood. Becky McCleskey (photo courtesy U.S. Park Police)Becky McCleskey, an Arlington woman reported missing earlier this month, has been found dead.

McCleskey’s body was found Friday in the Potomac River near Old Angler’s Inn in Maryland, according to U.S. Park Police. Foul play is not suspected.

A vehicle belonging to McCleskey was found in a parking lot at Great Falls National Park in Virginia on Feb. 6, when police were first informed of her disappearance.

From a Park Police press release:

On Friday, February 24 at approximately 5:50 p.m. a body was recovered from the water near Old Angler’s Inn in Potomac, Maryland.

The body has been confirmed as that of Becky McCleskey, 56, of Virginia.  McCleskey had been reported missing on February 6, 2017 in the area of Great Falls, Virginia. An extensive air, land, and water search was conducted for two days by the United States Park Police and the Montgomery County Fire and Police Departments.

Mrs. McCleskey’s vehicle was found in the parking lot at Great Falls National Park, Virginia on February 6, 2017.  There is no indication of foul play.

McCleskey has a son who is a high school student in Arlington, we’re told. She also leaves behind a husband, according to an email sent to Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington parishioners.

Her first husband, Arlington native Brian McCleskey, died of respiratory failure in 2007, according to a Washington Post obituary.
