Are you searching for a small furry companion to take naps with? Meet Peach, the newest Adoptable Pet of the Week!

Peach is up for adoption at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. She is currently in foster and this is what they had to say about her:

A cat in her past life, Peach can be seen perched atop your windowsill keeping watch or napping, laying on or near your work desk, curled on top of your couch cushions, or sprawled across your pile of clothes on the floor. But don’t let this fool you, Peach is a tried and true velcro-dog.

Her favorite thing is you. Period. But she will also accept peanut butter, fruit, and meat as payment for her loyalty, as well as lots of face scratches.

Peach can nap like nobody’s business, help you make excuses to stay in bed for cuddles, and make herself comfortable literally anywhere, including in your arms when the world feels overwhelming for her. That said, at any moment’s notice, she can be up and ready to go for a walk, hike, or swim and have a blast. She is fascinated by the world and appreciates adventurous strolls where she can hop around like a bunny while happily sneezing up a storm, but doesn’t always need them since she’s happiest wherever you are.

Sometimes strangers can look big and scary looming over her tiny body. So she would rather sneak a couple sniffs in when they’re not looking and let them earn her trust on her own time, ’cause she knows she’s worth it. Peach is excellent at spotting wildlife and other dogs, but might need your help to bring her back down to earth (literally, her front feet can in fact leave the ground).

Her foster brother is a 60lb pit mix, and we’ve found that having another dog at home can give her a little confidence boost, but isn’t necessary since she only has eyes for you. She’s reported to have positive and friendly interactions with children, but we have not observed her living with cats yet.

Say hello to the curious bunny named Franscisca.

This sweet girl is currently in foster and can’t wait to find her forever home!

Her friends at Animal Welfare League of Arlington wanted to share a few tidbits about her:

She is litter box trained, gentle and tidy.

She loves to get out to explore and enjoys pets on her head and attention from her people. Francisca relaxes in her space and enjoys her food and treats.

Franscisca’s perfect day would be lounging and then getting out to play and explore before lounging again! If Franscisca was an ice cream flavor, she would be Black Cherry. Beautiful and sweet!

Franscisca is not so into missing her playtime. She is a very sweet and funny bunny and we hope she will find her forever home soon.

Franscisca has not met other pets whilst in our care, but has been exposed to children. She enjoys the company of the children and willingly accepts their attention.

Meet the newest Adoptable Pet of the Week, Sherry!

Her friends at Animal Welfare League of Arlington had this to say about her:

When Sherry isn’t finding the coziest hiding spaces to nap in, she is asking for head and butt scratches.

Sherry has some of the softest fur you will ever feel, and she loves staring at you with her big beautiful eyes when you’re petting her. She loves to bay around her catnip banana and she likes to wiggle on carpeted floor.

Sherry is definitely a nocturnal cat and likes to sleep most of the day. You can find her curled up in the warmest spots tucked away. At night, she will request cuddles before posting up at the window to engage in her night watching.

Is Sherry the companion for you? Learn more about Sherry by checking out her complete profile.

Welcome the new arrivals at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, which are getting ready for adoption.

“We received 16 dogs from a group of 60 that were rescued from commercial breeders/puppy mills in the Midwest and flown to Virginia to start their new lives,” said AWLA’s Chelsea Jones. “We have a group of French Bulldogs, Dachshunds, Corgis, and more.”

One of those 16 dogs is Pretzel, an adorable Corgi who may be a bit shy but has the fluffiest fur. This fluffy pup has had a long journey and is going to need a welcoming forever home!

Pretzel, along with the other arrivals need time to settle and rest, and applications are not available yet.

AWLA is accepting donations to help these new arrivals with medical care, food, grooming and more.

Welcome Fred Lee, the newest Adoptable Pet of the Week!

This gentleman is an 8-year-old Terrier mix who is searching for his forever home.

His friends at Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation had this to say:

Meet Fred Lee, also known as Freddie! Does he look familiar? He stole the show last year during a FOX 5 Zip Trip segment.

This sweet 8 year old senior has undergone quite the medical transformation — his teeth have been taken care of and he has fully recovered from his heartworm treatment. He now stands stronger and fuller (just by a couple pounds) than ever!

He is a total love bug with a calm and easy attitude. Freddie can’t resist a snooze in a good sun spot or a soft dog bed. His ideal spot is next to his human. He has not met a person nor a dog he does not like.

He’s a gentle, loving boy who is ready to be entirely devoted and loyal to you. As a senior, his mellow habits and personality are well-established.

Is Fred Lee the mellow companion you’ve been looking for? If interested in starting the adoption process check out his complete profile to learn more!

Say hello to Clayton, a 3-year-old Retriever Labrador mix who is a treasure to have!

This goofy boy is the newest Adoptable Pet of the Week and is looking to bring lots of joy and laughs to his forever home.

Clayton’s friends at Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation had this to say:

Are you ready to win the jackpot!? If you are patient enough to get to know the real Clayton, you’ll realize you’ve hit gold.

As his old English name and bowtie indicate, Clayton appears to be a proper, distinguished gentleman. In reality, this knucklehead will always put a smile on your face and keep you laughing. He’s a real cuddlebug who showers his humans with love and loyalty.

Clayton is seeking an experienced partner who enjoys exercise and continues his training. He is housebroken, crate-trained, and knows some cues (sit, stay, place, and break).

Currently, he is working on his leash manners and walking with a loose leash. He loves playing with other dogs as long as his humans make the proper introductions to his new dog friends.

Is Clayton a match for you? Check out his complete profile to learn more!

The newest Adoptable Pet of the Week is Koda!

This blue-eyed boy has the brains and beauty to compliment his future family.

His friends at Animal Welfare League of Arlington had a few things to say about Koda:

Gaze into those bright blue eyes and try not to fall in love!

Not only is Koda super handsome, but he’s got the brains and personality to go with it.

He loves spending time outside sniffing around the yard and playing with squeaky toys to his heart’s content.

He’s a “glass half full” kind of dog who is full of curiosity and enthusiasm!

Koda is currently in foster waiting to find his forever home. Want to set up a meet and greet? Email his foster at [email protected] and be sure to check out his entire profile.

Meet the fearless Mercury, our newest Adoptable Pet of the Week! Mercury is a white rabbit who is very friendly and is searching for adventure.

His friends at Animal Welfare League of Arlington had this to say:

Mercury is a very curious and friendly rabbit. He’s seemingly unafraid of anything!

Every time you come to greet him, he’ll great you back (hoping you brought a tasty treat). He loves to spend time hopping around and stretching his legs, and loves company when he plays. After he’s done, he’ll happily flop down beside you.

He loves learning and is a huge fan of target training!

If he was an ice cream flavor, he’d be mint chocolate chip. He’s interacted with cats, and is interested in greeting them!

Meet the newest Adoptable Pet of the Week, Bingo! This sweet guy is looking to become someone’s snuggle buddy.

This is what his friends at Animal Welfare League of Arlington had this to say:

If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly, purr machine who would love nothing more than to sleep by your side… look no further than Bingo!

This handsome boy lives for giving and getting affection from his human. With so much love to give, he has little time or interest in playing with toys. He also doesn’t feel the need to meow often but will head butt your hand when he wants your attention.

His foster tells us he is very good with his litter box habits and spends the majority of his day sleeping.

He would love to get to know you better and, if all works out, to become your #1 snuggle buddy!

Give a warm welcome to Zara, the newest Adoptable Pet of the Week! This sweet 3-year-old girl is patiently waiting to find her forever family.

Her friends at Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation had this to say about her:

Meet Zara, an intelligent girl who lives to please her people. Her name means “radiance” or “blossoming flower,” and it fits her perfectly. She is a beautiful flower ready to bloom under your care.

Zara loves connecting with people, soft toys, back scratches and belly rolls. She can fetch, but is still working on returning it close to you. She has mastered commands to come, sit, stay, paw, let’s go (start walking again), and drop it. She is an eager student, smart and highly treat-motivated.

Zara is very friendly to all adults she meets, both on and off leash, and bonds quickly to her new friends. She is best suited for a home that provides consistency and reinforces her training. Ideally her new family consists of adults and/or older children. She needs a slow introduction to resident dogs.

Zara is looking for a home where she can shine and be the best good dog she knows she can be. She has been patiently waiting for her forever home. Will you be her best friend?

The newest Adoptable Pet of the Week is Clarice!

This adorable kitten is a ball of fluff that loves to snuggle and is looking for her forever home.

Her friends at Animal Welfare League of Arlington had this to say about her:

Clarice the kitten shares much of the same personality traits as her famous movie namesake — Clarice Starling.

She’s smart, curious, quiet and strong willed. But underneath she’s a big softy who loves to snuggle up and fall asleep in your lap cuddling.

Clarice arrived in foster care after having been rescued on her own from a parking lot. She quickly befriended the other kittens in her foster home, and she loves to chase and wrestle with them. She’s become great buddies with Hubbard, and they’d love to find a home together!

Clarice has also been around adult cats and dogs in her foster home and is very used to them.
