Florida Man Arrested for Flashing Man During Parking Dispute

Police car lightsA 34-year-old man from Florida was arrested in Pentagon City on Friday, accused of flashing another man during a parking dispute.

The incident happened shortly before 1 p.m. Friday on the 1200 block of S. Hayes Street, near the Pentagon City mall.

“Following a verbal dispute between two parties over parking, a male subject allegedly exposed his genitals to a male victim,” according to an Arlington County Police Department crime report.

“Officers conducted a canvas of the area and located the suspect,” the crime report continues. “Bret Wayne Reichenberg, 34, of Palm Beach FL, was arrested and charged with indecent exposure and drunk in public.”

Man Arrested After Kicking, Punching Police Dog in Clarendon

Police car (file photo)A Maryland man is in jail after police say he kicked and punched a police dog while burglarizing a restaurant in Clarendon.

The incident happened just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday, on the 3200 block of Wilson Blvd.

Police say 24-year-old Christian Taylor, of New Carrollton, forced entry into a restaurant and struck an employee in the face as part of a burglary. Police were called and arrived while the man was still inside the business.

“The subject ignored [an] officer’s commands to exit the business,” according to an Arlington County Police Department crime report. “Following several announcements by police that were unanswered by the suspect, a K9 was deployed. The suspect kicked and punched the K9. Officers were able to take the combative subject into custody.”

Taylor has been charged with burglary, destruction of property, assault on a police dog, obstruction of justice and assault and battery.

Police did not specify the name of the restaurant, but there are only two on the 3200 block of Wilson Blvd: Silver Diner and Northside Social.

Police: Two Arrested After Failed Jewelry Store Armed Robbery

(Updated at 4:10 p.m. on 12/23/21) Two men armed with guns tried to rob a jewelry store in Lyon Park last night, according to police, but wound up empty-handed and in jail.

Police say Jorgito [Redacted], 37, of Alexandria and Alexander [Redacted], 21, of Puerto Rico tried to rob Sacramento Jewelers on the 2700 block of Washington Blvd just before 5:45 pm.

“Two masked suspects brandishing firearms entered a jewelry store and attempted to restrain one of the employees,” according to an Arlington County Police Department press release. “A struggle ensued between the employee and the suspects, causing the suspects to flee the area by vehicle.”

Police got a quick break in the case when someone noticed a suspicious vehicle stopped along I-395 shortly after the robbery “and provided critical information” that ultimately led investigators to the suspects, who were arrested in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County just before midnight.

Both [Redacted] and [Redacted] are being held in the Arlington County jail without bond.

The Arlington County Police Department has arrested and charged two suspects for their role in an armed robbery. Jorgito [Redacted], 37, of Alexandria VA and Alexander Serpa [Redacted], 21, of Puerto Rico were arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery, abduction, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and use or display of a firearm during the commission of a robbery. Both suspects are being held in the Arlington County Detention Facility on no bond.

At approximately 5:44 p.m. on December 7, officers were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery in the 2700 block of Washington Boulevard. The investigation revealed that two masked suspects brandishing firearms entered a jewelry store and attempted to restrain one of the employees. A struggle ensued between the employee and the suspects, causing the suspects to flee the area by vehicle.

During the course of the investigation, a witness driving on I-395 noticed a suspicious vehicle and provided critical information to the Emergency Communication Center. Utilizing the information provided by the witness, evidence located at the scene and information obtained during witness interviews, detectives developed suspect descriptions. Officers from the Arlington County Police Department’s Tactical Unit and the Fairfax County Police Department took the two suspects into custody in the Alexandria portion of Fairfax County.

Crime Report: Woman Touched Inappropriately on Bus

Police car lightsArlington County police responded to Clarendon this past Friday morning for a reported sexual battery incident.

A woman told officers that she had been touched inappropriately by a man who sat next to her on a bus.

From this week’s Arlington County Police Department crime report:

LATE SEXUAL BATTERY, 2016-12020127, 3100 block of Clarendon Boulevard. At approximately 10:49 a.m. on December 2, officers responded to the report of a late assault. A female victim boarded a bus and a male subject sat next to her. During the course of the bus ride, the male subject touched the female victim inappropriately. The suspect is described as a black male in his late thirties, approximately 5’0″-5’5″ tall and weighed 140-200 lbs. He was wearing dark brown pants and a light brown jacket.

Two Hurt, Utility Wires Downed in Yorktown Blvd Crash

Two people were taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash in the Yorktown neighborhood this afternoon.

The crash was reported around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Yorktown Blvd and N. George Mason Drive.

An elderly male driver was disoriented after the crash and had to be assisted out of his vehicle, according to scanner traffic. He and the other driver, an adult female, were transported to the hospital via ambulance. The injuries were not considered to be serious.

One of the vehicles, a Honda sedan, smashed into a utility pole after the initial crash, shattering the mid-section of the pole and downing numerous utility lines across both roads.

George Mason Drive is blocked at the crash scene, as is Yorktown Blvd east of the intersection.

ACPD Seeking Additional Victims of Accused Fraudster

(Updated at 4:10 p.m. on 12/23/21) Arlington County Police are looking for additional victims of a man they say is a repeat fraudster.

Willbrod Frank [Redacted], 42, is accused of using a friend’s credit cards after stealing them from her home near Columbia Pike.

He has also falsely represented himself as a medical professional to defraud victims hoping to obtain employment, police say.

ACPD issued the following press release Tuesday morning.

The Arlington County Police Department’s Financial Crimes Unit is investigating a suspect charged in a fraud case and are seeking additional victims. Willbrod Frank [Redacted] aka Frank Wilbert [Redacted], 42, of an unknown address, has been arrested and charged with unlawful entry, credit card larceny, and credit card fraud.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on November 28, officers responded to the 2500 block of S. 9th Road for the report of a burglary in progress. Through the course of the investigation, officers determined that the suspect, Willbrod Frank [Redacted], had unlawfully entered the female victim’s apartment while she was away. He had befriended the victim several weeks prior. The suspect was found to be in possession of and had completed transactions with the victim’s credit cards.

In June 2016, [Redacted] was arrested by Montgomery County Police for committing a theft scheme in Maryland. In 2012, [Redacted] met the victim in that case and fraudulently represented himself as “Head of Nursing” at a local hospital. [Redacted] told the victim that he could help him enter a nursing program. Over three years, [Redacted] accepted $13,500 in “tuition” from the victim at various locations in Montgomery County. Once [Redacted] received the money, he stopped communicating with the victim.

The suspect has a history of fraud schemes and detectives believe there may be additional victims. The suspect is known to befriend men and women under the reuse that he is a doctor or is associated in the medical field. He may make promises of obtaining employment for the victims in exchange for a monetary fee. No employment is ever secured. [Redacted] may also defraud individuals by gaining their trust and then beginning to borrow large sums of money, without the intent to repay.

Road Closures Planned for Jingle Bell Run 5K in Pentagon City

Jingle Bell Run logoA number of road closures are planned Saturday morning for the 2016 Jingle Bell Run/Walk 5K.

The race, which benefits the Arthritis Foundation, kicks off at 9 a.m. tomorrow in front of the Pentagon Row shopping center (1101 S. Joyce Street).

Via ACPD:

The Arlington County Police Department will close South Joyce Street and sections of Army Navy Drive for the 2016 Jingle Bell Run/Walk 5k on Saturday, December 3, 2016.

The affected streets are listed below:

  • South Joyce Street between South 15th Street and Army Navy Drive will be closed from 5:30 AM until 11:00 AM.
  • Army Navy Drive between South Joyce Street and South 25th Street will be closed from 7:00 AM until 11:00 AM.

Race attendees are encouraged to use Metro, however; if driving as a participant or spectator please utilize the parking garage at the Pentagon City Mall.

Street parking in the area will be restricted. Motorists should be on the lookout for temporary “No Parking” signs. Illegally parked vehicles may be ticketed or towed. If your vehicle is towed from a public street, call 703-558-2222.

Police Investigating Death in Rosslyn

A body was found this morning on the 1600 block of N. Kent Street, a narrow one-way that runs by the Rosslyn Spectrum theater.

At this point the death is not considered suspicious and is being investigated as a probable suicide, said Arlington County Police spokeswoman Ashley Savage.

Police are expected to remain on scene for some time, interviewing witnesses and conducting a death investigation.

Crime Report: Man Chokes Woman, Smashes Her Car’s Windshield

Police car (file photo)A Maryland man has been arrested and charged with choking and assaulting a woman, then smashing her car’s windshield.

The incident happened late Monday night into early Tuesday morning, in the Barcroft neighborhood near Columbia Pike.

Police say the man and the woman knew each other.

From an Arlington County Police Department crime report:

TAMPERING WITH AUTO (significant), 2016-11290004, 5100 block of S. 8th Road. At approximately 12:10 a.m. on November 29, officers responded to the report of tampering with auto. Upon arrival, it was determined that a male subject assaulted a known female victim. After two witnesses broke up the altercation, the suspect left the residence and shattered the windshield of the victim’s vehicle. Ryan Victor Lane, 33, of Cockeysville MD, was arrested and charged with assault & battery, strangulation, and tampering with auto. He is being held without bond.

ACPD Still Encouraging Residents to ‘Fill the Cruiser’ Tonight

ACPD Fill the Cruiser event flyer 2016Despite the wet weather, Arlington police will still be holding their second annual “Fill the Cruiser” toy drive tonight.

Police are encouraging local residents to “help make the holidays bright for Arlington County children in need” via donations.

“The Arlington County Police Department is asking community members to donate new, unwrapped toys to bring holiday cheer to children ages 1 – 17,” the department said. “Donations will be distributed by the police department throughout the month of December.”

Tonight (Tuesday), from 6-8 p.m., police will be collecting donations at the following locations:

  • Lee Harrison Shopping Center (2425 N. Harrison Street)
  • Pentagon Row (1201 S. Joyce Street)
  • Shirlington Village (2700 S. Quincy Street)

The Shirlington collection is still happening despite the fact that the Shirlington light-up night was postponed until next week due to rain.

A separate collection will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes (830 23rd Street S.) on Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 6-8 p.m. For those who cannot get to any of the events, donations are also being accepted at police headquarters (1425 N. Courthouse Road) until Friday, Dec. 16.
