JUST IN: Armed Robbers Invade Country Club Hills House

Arlington County Police are investigating a home invasion robbery in the Country Club Hills neighborhood, just north of Marymount University.

Police say three men, armed with guns and wearing white gloves, forced their way inside a house on 33rd Street N. The home invasion happened after one of the residents returned home around 3 a.m. this past Saturday.

Three residents were restrained and held captive while the men made threats to harm two of the victims, according to police. In the end, the suspects stole unspecified “items of value” and fled in a silver vehicle; no one was seriously hurt.

Crime Report: Robbers Crash Truck Through Storefront, Abscond with ATM

Arlington police are still searching for a group of suspects who they believe crashed a pickup truck through the front door of a business, then absconded with an ATM.

County police say the robbery happened just after 3 a.m. last Friday (Sept. 7) at a business along the 1100 block of S. George Mason Drive, near the road’s intersection with Columbia Pike.

The block is home to both a Wells Fargo bank branch and a Liberty gas station.

According to a county crime report, employees saw a “large white pickup truck” back through the storefront. Anywhere from three to four people then jumped out and threw the machine into the truck’s bed, before speeding off.

Police are not sure just how much money was inside the ATM, and described the suspects as “dressed in all black and wearing black masks.”

GRAND LARCENY (Significant), 2018-09070042, 1100 block of S. George Mason Drive. At approximately 3:32 a.m. on September 7, police responded to the report of a robbery just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the employees of a business observed a large pick-up truck back through the storefront, causing damage. 3-4 suspects then exited the vehicle and forcibly stole an ATM machine with an undisclosed amount of cash, placed it in the truck and fled at a high rate of speed prior to police arrival. The suspects are described as being dressed in all black and wearing black masks. The vehicle is described as a large white pick-up truck. The investigation is ongoing.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2018-09080258, 700 block of 22nd Street S. At approximately 11:50 p.m. on September 8, police responded to the report of an unknown male inside the victim’s residence. Upon arrival, it was determined that the female victim located the unknown male suspect asleep inside her residence and items inside tampered with. Nothing was reported missing. Matthew Agvent, 24, of Arlington, VA, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Entry.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2018-09080027, 2700 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 1:46 a.m. on September 8, police responded to the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, it was determined that the suspect entered a business at closing time and was denied service. The suspect then entered the bathroom, leaving the door ajar, where the victim observed him masturbating. After being asked to leave the business repeatedly, the suspect fled on foot prior to police arrival. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’11”, with an athletic build, defined jawline and round cheekbones, with stubbled facial hair, wearing a striped polo shirt with a white t-shirt under it, a brimmed hat, khaki pants, dark colored boxers and had a tattoo on his back. The investigation is ongoing.

PEEPING, 2018-09080030, 2300 block of 11th Street N. At approximately 2:29 a.m. on September 8, police responded to the report of a peeping. Upon arrival, it was determined that the female victim was inside her residence when she observed the male suspect in the bushes outside the window allegedly looking inside. The suspect fled prior to police arrival. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 25-40 years old, 5’5″-5’10”. The investigation is ongoing.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 2018-09090133, 1400 block of N. Rhodes Street. At approximately 5:24 p.m. on September 9, police responded to the report of an attempted burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim was inside his residence when he heard someone attempting to gain access. The victim then made contact with the suspect and escorted him off of the property. The suspect fled the scene walking north on Rhodes Street prior to police arrival. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male in his 30’s, approximately 5’6″-5’8″, wearing a black skull cap, black and white pants, a dark gray short sleeved t-shirt, black boots, carrying a black backpack and wearing a light colored towel or t-shirt around his neck. The investigation is ongoing.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2018-09050097, Washington Boulevard at N. Kirkwood Road. At approximately 12:20 p.m. on September 5, police were dispatched to the report of an indecent exposure just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the female victim was walking in the area when she observed the male suspect with his pants pulled down, exposing himself and masturbating. The suspect is described as a white male, wearing light-washed blue denim shorts or pants, and black shoes. Arriving officers canvased the area with negative results. The investigation is ongoing.

Police Investigating After Woman Assaulted, Robbed Near Ballston

Arlington police are investigating after a woman says she was assaulted and robbed near Ballston Thursday night (Aug. 9).

Police say the woman was walking near the 3900 block of Fairfax Drive around 9 p.m. Thursday when a man came up behind her and shoved her into a wall.

The man then proceeded to rob the woman and assaulted her, though he ran off after a brief struggle. Police say the woman suffered “minor injuries” as a result of the scuffle.

Police describe the suspect as a “white male, approximately 40-45 years old, 5’8″-6’0″ tall, weighing 190-210 lbs., with brown hair.”

ROBBERY (late), 2018-08100128, 3900 block of Fairfax Drive. At approximately 12:36 p.m. on August 10, police responded to the late report of a larceny. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 9:00 p.m. on August 9, the victim was walking in the area when an unknown male suspect approached her from behind, shoved her against a wall and stole her personal property. The suspect then assaulted her, however, the victim resisted and a brief struggle ensued before the suspect fled on foot with her property. The victim suffered minor injuries. Crime Report: Police Investigating Bike Robbery Near Boulevard Manor

Arlington police are investigating a bike robbery that took place near the Boulevard Manor neighborhood last week.

County police say a man was riding his bike near the intersection of Patrick Henry Drive and Wilson Blvd last Wednesday night (Aug. 1), when he stopped briefly and was approached by a man brandishing a knife.

The man demanded that the bicyclist hand over his belongings and his bike. Once he did so, the man rode off on the bike before police arrived. Police say their investigation is still ongoing.

ROBBERY, 2018-08010255, Patrick Henry Drive at Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 8:53 p.m. on August 1, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery at knife point. Upon arrival, it was determined that approximately 10 minutes prior, the victim was riding his bike in the area and stopped briefly, when he was approached from behind by an unknown suspect who brandished a knife and demanded his bike and personal belongings. The suspect then stole the victim’s belongings and bike and fled on the bike prior to police arrival. Arriving officers canvased the area with negative results. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 20-25 years old, approximately 5’4″-5’6″ tall, with a goatee and black hair that was slightly above shoulder length, wearing a black tank top, red shorts and white sneakers. The suspect is described as a light skinned black male with a thin build, 5’11” to 6’0″ tall with slight facial hair. He was wearing a sweatshirt and hat at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES, 2018-08070213, 4600 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. At approximately 6:10 p.m on August 7, police were dispatched to the report of possible shots fired. Upon arrival, it was determined that a witness was walking in the area when he heard the glass from a vehicle window break. Arriving officers located a parked vehicle with a shattered window. No physical evidence of a shooting was located at the scene and a canvas of the area resulted in no additional witnesses. No injuries were reported.

BURGLARY, 2018-08060187, 2200 block of 2nd Street N. At approximately 6:25 p.m. on August 6, police were dispatched to the report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined that between 6:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., an unknown suspect(s) forced entry into a residence and stole cash. There is no suspect description. The investigation is ongoing.

BRANDISHING, 2018-08050187, 4100 block of 4th Street N. At approximately 7:51 p.m. on August 5, police were dispatched to a brandishing. Upon arrival, it was determined that two suspects entered the victim’s residence and brandished a firearm. One suspect was known to the victim. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival. There were no injuries reported and nothing was taken from the victim or residence during the incident. Suspect One is described as a male, 5’7″ tall, approximately 170 lbs, with long black dreadlocks. He was wearing a black t-shirt and jeans. Suspect Two is described as a Hispanic male, 6’0″ tall, approximately 170 lbs, with short black hair. He was wearing a black shirt, pants and shoes at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

ROBBERY (late), 2018-08030191, 5000 block of Chesterfield Road. At approximately 2:32 p.m. on August 3, police were dispatched to the late report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 11:00 p.m. on August 2, the victim was walking to a store when he was approached by two suspects who asked for a dollar. When the victim refused, one suspect brandished a firearm and assaulted the victim before stealing his personal property. The suspects are described as black men with long dreadlocks, approximately 5’7″, both wearing dark jeans and white tank tops. The investigation is ongoing.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (Series), 2018-08030320/08030326/08040004/08040022/08040012/08040076/08040098/08040110/08040191, 1200 block of S. Eads Street/1100 block of S. Joyce Street/1600 block of S. At approximately 11:00 p.m. on August 3, police began responding to the above locations for multiple reports of larcenies from auto. Upon arrival, it was determined that the windows of approximately 20 vehicles were smashed and airbags stolen. During the course of the investigation, it was also determined that two vehicles each had a set of four tires and rims stolen. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 2018-08030239, 500 block of N. Frederick Street. At approximately 6:30 p.m. on August 3, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined that between 9:00 p.m. on August 2 and 6:15 p.m. on August 3, an unknown suspect(s) gained entry to a residence and stole items of value. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.

Crime Report: Police Searching for Three Men in Connection with Alleged Mob Assault

Arlington County Police are looking for three men who they believe teamed up to assault a man near a Clarendon dog park early Sunday morning.

Police say a man was walking along N. Herndon Street at its intersection with 13th Street N. early Sunday morning (May 6) near the James Hunter Dog Park, when “three slim, light-skinned South Asian” men accosted him because they believed he was attempting to break into their car, according to a crime report.

One of the three men “grabbed an object the victim was carrying and threw it at him, causing a laceration,” police say. Spokeswoman Ashley Savage told ARLnow that the police department’s homicide/robbery unit is investigating the incident as a “malicious wounding by mob,” and is still searching for the suspects.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2018-05060043, N. Herndon Street at 13th Street N. At approximately 2:13 a.m. on May 6, police were dispatched to the report of an unknown situation. Crime Report: Store Employees Threatened with Bottle, Robbed

A man threatened employees in a Pentagon City store on Wednesday before taking off with cash.

Police were called to the store in the 1500 block of S. Fern Street just before 8:30 p.m. for a report of a disorderly person inside. Upon arriving, they learned that the suspect became angry after a verbal dispute, then threatened employees with a bottle and demanded money.

The suspect reportedly stole cash from the register and other items before taking off. Police were unable to find him.

ROBBERY, 2018-05010255, 1500 block of S. Fern Street. At approximately 8:23 p.m. on May 1, police were dispatched to the report of a disorderly subject inside a business. Crime Report: Indecent Exposure Edition

Police responded to two indecent exposure calls in relatively the same area this past week.

The first incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. last Friday in the Radnor/Ft. Myer Heights neighborhood near the 1900 block of Clarendon Blvd. A woman walking in the area saw a man masturbating in a park.

INDECENT EXPOSURE (late), 201804200279, 1900 block of Clarendon Boulevard. At approximately 10:53 p.m. on April 20, police were dispatched to the late report of an indecent exposure. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 9:35 p.m., the female victim was walking in the area when she witnessed an unknown male suspect allegedly masturbating in a park. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’7″ tall and 160 lbs., with dark hair sticking out of a dark colored beanie, wearing a black windbreaker and dark pants. The investigation is ongoing.

The second incident happened nearby at Wilson Blvd. and N. Troy Street in the Colonial Village neighborhood around 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday. A man reportedly approached a woman and exposed himself before fleeing.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2018-04240236, Wilson Boulevard at N. Troy Street. At approximately 10:47 p.m. on April 24, police were dispatched to the report of a possible exposure. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 10:20 p.m. the female victim was walking in the area when an unknown male suspect approached her while exposing himself. The suspect fled prior to police arrival. Arriving officers canvased the area with negative results. The suspect is described as a light skinned Hispanic male, approximately 5’6″ to 5’8″ tall, with a skinny build, wearing a black hoodie with the hood pulled over his head and blue jeans. The investigation is ongoing.

Crime Report: Man With Knife Robs Lee Highway Business

A man with a knife robbed a business on Lee Highway last night.

The man fled with cash stolen from the business on the 5500 block of Lee Highway, according to the latest Arlington County Police Department crime report. That block is home to two banks, a waxing studio, a restaurant and other businesses.

Despite snow on the ground, the suspect was able to leave the area before police were able to track him down.

Police: Woman Robbed in Westover

Two men robbed a woman of her purse and cash early Sunday morning in the Westover area, according to police.

The robbery happened around 1 a.m. on the 5700 block of 10th Road N., a block or two from the Custis Trail. The woman was not harmed and the suspects fled in a pickup truck, police said.

ROBBERY, 2018-02040017, 5700 block of 10th Road N. At approximately 1:00 a.m. on February 4, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined that a female victim exited her vehicle and was walking to her residence when she was approached by two male suspects, who demanded her purse and money. The two suspects stole the victim’s purse and other items of value and fled in a dark blue two-door pickup truck driven by a third suspect. Responding officers canvassed the area with negative results. Suspect One is described as a medium-skinned black male, approximately 5’8-5’10, medium build, in his early 20’s, wearing a black cap, a long black jacket with a hood, with a beige jacket underneath and black shoes. Suspect Two is described as a black male. There is no description of the third suspect. The investigation is ongoing.

Also over the weekend, a Purcellville man was arrested and charged with drunkenly brandishing a gun at a security guard in Crystal City.

BRANDISHING, 2018-02030233, 200 block of 18th Street S. At approximately 9:37 p.m. on February 3, police were dispatched to the report of a brandishing. Upon arrival, it was determined that a security guard was patrolling the area on foot when a male suspect walked past him. The security guard looked back and observed the suspect allegedly brandishing a firearm at him. Responding officers canvased the area and located a suspect matching the description provided by the victim. Trevor Burns, 23, of Purcellville, VA, was arrested and charged with Brandishing a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Carrying a Concealed Handgun Under the Influence of Alcohol and Drunk in Public.

Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Pentagon City Mall Robbery Suspects

The Arlington County Police Department has released surveillance images of four people suspected of a strong armed robbery at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.

Police said four men stole “numerous sunglasses” from the Sunglass Hut at the mall at 1100 S. Hayes Street just before noon on Tuesday, January 16. In doing so, police said they threatened and pushed a store employee during a struggle, then fled the scene.

The first suspect is described as a black male wearing boots, dark colored pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and a green jacket. The second is described as a black male wearing black track pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and sneakers.

The third suspect is described as a black male wearing sneakers, blue jeans and a black jacket. The fourth is described as a black male wearing sneakers, black pants and a black hooded sweatshirt.
