Paramedics are heading to the Best Buy in Pentagon City after police used a Taser on a disorderly suspect.
The suspect was not reported to be injured — it’s standard procedure for medics to evaluate anyone who has been Tasered by an officer.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 09/23/10, 2000 block of S. 27th Street. On September 23 at 6:30 pm, a man touched a teenage girl on her shoulder without her permission. The man fled the area when confronted by another adult. The suspect was located by police. A tazer was deployed because the suspect was uncooperative. Alton Dixon, 46, of no fixed address, was charged with Assault and Battery and Fail to Identify to Law Enforcement. He was held on a $1,000 bond.
Also on the crime report, a drunken brawl broke out inside Bailey’s Pub in Ballston early Wednesday morning.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING 09/29/10, 4200 block of Wilson Boulevard. On September 29 at 1:30 am, a group of intoxicated males was in a fight inside a bar. One male was hit in the face. Police received reports that another man had been cut on his back, but that could not be proven. The suspects are unknown.

Police used a Taser on a man in the parking lot of the Arlington Coin Laundry store just before midnight last night. It’s the first known use of a Taser by Arlington officers since the April 30 incident at a Columbia Pike apartment building where a man died after being Tasered by police.
This latest incident happened at 4821 Columbia Pike, just down the road from April’s incident. Police had been called to the location for a report of intoxicated men trying to break into the laundromat. Shortly after police arrived an officer reported that a Taser had been used on one suspect.
Paramedics were sent to the scene immediately afterward to assess the man’s condition. They left after apparently not finding any life-threatening side effects from the electric jolt.
So far it’s not known what the man did to provoke police. It’s also not known whether he will face any charges.

Family Raises Questions About Taser Death — The family of a man who died after being Tasered by Arlington police is speaking out. Adil Jouami was unclothed, uncooperative and combative when officers arrived at a family member’s Columbia Pike apartment Friday morning, police said. A man has died after being Tasered by Arlington police and going into cardiac arrest.
It happened around 1:00 a.m. on the seventh floor of the Wildwood Park apartments, at the western end of Columbia Pike. Police were called for a psychiatric emergency and found a naked man inside an apartment.
Police called for backup shortly after arriving on the scene, saying the man was going “crazy” and they were having difficulty restraining him. Police officers then used a Taser on the man.
After a few minutes, police noticed the man was not breathing. Paramedics, who were already on the scene, performed CPR.
The man was rushed to Virginia Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police have confirmed that a Taser was used and are now investigating the incident. It’s not known whether the Taser caused the man’s death.
This is the second time this year a person has died after Arlington County police used a Taser. A 36-year-old man from the District died on January 17 after being Tasered at the Pentagon City Metro station.
Investigators are awaiting a final cause of death determination from the medical examiner’s office in that case.
Update at 1:45 p.m. — Police have identified the deceased man as 32-year-old Adil Jouamai of Fairfax County. He was at the apartment visiting family at the time.
“This is a very unfortunate incident and we are certainly taking this loss of life very seriously,” police chief M. Douglas Scott said in a statement. “The Police Department Criminal Investigation Section and Internal Affairs Section are conducting simultaneous comprehensive investigations. Although it is very early in the investigative process, there is no indication at this time that the level of force used by the officers was excessive considering the level of resistance they encountered.”
Police describe Jouamai’s conduct as “uncooperative” and “combative with the officers attempting to assist him.”
