Delays on northbound I-395 extend to Duke Street after a vehicle overturned near Shirlington Circle.

Traffic camera images show several people helping to clean up items that spilled from the vehicle in the left two lanes of the highway, as traffic slowly gets by. The overturned vehicle — possibly a pickup truck — is in the leftmost lane.

Firefighters just arrived on the scene and are reportedly evaluating two people for possible injuries. Three lanes are currently blocked.

The crash happened around 8 a.m. It’s not immediately clear whether it involved more than one vehicle.

Update at 9:10 a.m. — The crash scene has been cleared but residual delays remain.

Update at 9:40 p.m. — All lanes have reopened, Arlington County says.

Update at 6:40 p.m. — The southbound lanes have reopened but the northbound lanes are expected to remain closed for several hours.

Earlier: All lanes of N. Glebe Road near Chain Bridge are reported to be blocked during this evening’s commute, due to a combination of a disabled vehicle and a large pothole.

The large pothole is in the northbound lanes, on a steep portion of the road between Military Road and Chain Bridge Road, according to initial reports. A VDOT crew is now on scene assessing possible repairs to the roadway.

“Traffic is being diverted to Military Road,” the county said in an Arlington Alert message. “Seek alternate routes.”

Drivers should also expect heavy traffic on Chain Bridge as a result of the closure.

The closure is not far from where an SUV overturned earlier today.

UPDATED: Portion of GW Parkway closed after serious crash

(Updated at 2:50 p.m.) Northbound lanes of the GW Parkway were closed before Key Bridge today due to a serious crash.

The crash happened shortly before 11:45 a.m. and reportedly involved a vehicle that ran off the side of the roadway and overturned, injuring several people.

Northbound traffic was at a near-standstill for nearly a mile, between the Roosevelt Bridge and the crash.

All lanes reopened by 1:45 p.m., according to WTOP.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Significant Delays on I-395 After Vehicle Overturns

A reported two-vehicle crash that left one vehicle on its roof is causing significant delays on southbound I-395 near Pentagon City.

The flipped vehicle is located on the right-hand side of the roadway. Initial reports suggest that one person was trapped inside and that fellow motorists were trying to help get them out.

Firefighters and police are now on scene and the person who was stuck inside the overturned vehicle is now out, according to scanner traffic.

Just one lane of traffic is currently squeezing by the crash scene, causing significant delays. No word yet on any injuries.

(Updated at 11:15 p.m.) A multi-vehicle crash has temporarily blocked all lanes of the GW Parkway in Arlington.

The crash happened near the scenic overlooks on the parkway. Initial reports suggest that one of the vehicles involved crashed into a tree in the median, and that firefighters had to extricate an occupant of the vehicle who was trapped inside.

One patient is being transported to the trauma center at George Washington University Hospital, according to scanner traffic.

The parkway is expected to remain at least partially blocked for much of the evening due to due downed trees.

TRAFFIC ALERT: SB I-395 Partially Blocked by Overturned Vehicle

Southbound I-395 is down to one lane near the Pentagon during this evening’s rush hour due to a crash.

Initial reports suggest a vehicle flipped on its roof just past the exit ramp to Route 1. The occupants of the vehicle were able to get out and no serious injuries have been reported.

Those heading from D.C. to Virginia via the 14th Street Bridge should expect major traffic impacts in the area. The HOV lanes, however, are not affected by the crash.

Update at 5:25 p.m. — Two lanes are now open.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Crash Closes Old Dominion Drive

Old Dominion Drive is closed in both directions because of a crash at a particularly dangerous intersection in the Rock Spring neighborhood.

The North Arlington arterial street is closed between Williamsburg Blvd and Rock Spring Road, following a crash that happened around 1:30 p.m. Police are on scene directing traffic.

A Mercedes SUV collided with a Honda SUV at Old Dominion and Little Falls Road, a crash-prone intersection that recently added rush hour turn restrictions in an attempt to cut down on wrecks. The force of the crash sent the Mercedes careening into the front yard of a home, knocking down a county light pole in the process.

No serious injuries were reported. There’s no word on how soon Old Dominion Drive might reopen.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Van Overturns on Route 50 Ramp

Police and firefighters are on scene of a crash along Route 50 that left two people trapped in an overturned van.

The crash happened shortly before 8 a.m. on the ramp from Glebe Road to westbound Route 50.

The ramp and two lanes of westbound Route 50 are closed due to the emergency response. Morning rush hour commuters should expect slow traffic on both directions on Route 50.

The trapped occupants of the vans were quickly freed by rescuers. They’re injured but expected to be okay.

Earlier this morning a portion of eastbound I-66 was closed at Washington Blvd in Arlington for a reported multi-vehicle crash.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Pole Down After Crash on I-66

Expect heavy traffic on westbound I-66 in Arlington due to a two-vehicle crash near the Washington Blvd exit.

The crash felled a light pole, which then fell across the right-hand lane of the highway. Police are on scene, awaiting a highway crew to move the pole and tow trucks to remove the crashed vehicles.

As of 1 p.m., one lane was getting by the crash scene, with temporary full closures to help facilitate the cleanup. Westbound traffic was backed up more than a mile, to the Rosslyn area, as a result.

Update at 2 p.m. — It appears that the pole has been moved out of the roadway and the blocked lane will reopen soon.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Crash Partially Blocks Busy Columbia Pike Intersection

(Updated at 4:05 p.m.) Police and firefighters are on scene of a major crash at the intersection of Columbia Pike and S. Glebe Road.

The westbound lanes of Columbia Pike and at least one northbound lane of Glebe are blocked by the crash and the emergency activity. Drivers should expect significant evening rush hour traffic impacts in the area.

Initial reports suggest three vehicles were involved and at least two people were injured, one of whom suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local trauma center.

UPDATED: Arlington Blvd Reopens After Downed Wires Close All Lanes

(Updated at 1:30 p.m.) Arlington County Police re-opened all lanes of Arlington Boulevard and Manchester Street, which were closed around 1 p.m.

A truck knocked down power lines, which were arcing, according to the police scanner.

Arlington County requested that Fairfax County units respond to the incident, which was near Glencarlyn.
