Lee Highway is currently blocked at the Spout Run Parkway due to a crash in the middle of the intersection.
Initial reports suggest 2-3 vehicles were involved and at least one person might have been briefly trapped in their vehicle.
Police and firefighters are on scene and all lanes of Lee Highway are temporarily blocked due to the emergency response, though some lanes are expected to reopen shortly.
A multi-vehicle crash closed two southbound lanes of I-395 at the start of the evening rush hour today (Tuesday).
Police closed the center and left southbound lanes after the crash at around 3:45 p.m. near Mile Marker 7, just north of the Glebe Road exit. Cars could still get by slowly in the two right-hand lanes.
Backups were already reaching as far north as the Pentagon just after 4 p.m. Drivers in the area should expect delays.

Police and medics are on scene of a three-vehicle crash on S. Glebe Road.
Initial reports suggest a car and a Jeep collided head-on and another car ran into a light pole at the intersection of S. Glebe Road and 12th Street, in front of the Post Office. Medics are evaluating vehicle occupants for injuries.
One southbound lane of Glebe is currently blocked just south of Columbia Pike, according to scanner traffic. Drivers should expect significant traffic impacts in the area.
Arlington Ridge Road is blocked by a downed utility pole following a crash, according to scanner traffic.
A vehicle reportedly ran into the pole along the 1900 block of Arlington Ridge Road, toppling it and blocking the street. At least one person is being evaluated for injuries by paramedics.
Arlington Ridge Road, a busy commuter route for those exiting from I-395, is closed between 19th and 20th Streets S. Police are on scene directing traffic.

(Updated at 10:30 a.m.) Military Road is closed between 30th and 31st Streets N. due to a reported downed tree and power lines.
It appears that a large tree fell on lines and and across the road. Crews from Arlington County, Dominion and a tree contractor are on the scene.
Nearly 75 Dominion customers are without power, according to the power company’s website.
Police are redirecting traffic around the closure. Officers expect it to be a “prolonged” closure, according to scanner traffic.

Some roads will close on Sunday for the 2017 Arlington Youth Triathlon.
The children-only triathlon includes a swimming race, a bike race and a run. The race will begin in the pool at Washington-Lee High School, followed by a loop bike course and a flat run on the outdoor track at Washington-Lee.
“The races are intended to encourage children to have fun while participating in physical activities,” according to an online event listing. “The swim-bike-run disciplines of triathlon are life-long sports that support a healthy lifestyle from childhood through adulthood.”
The road closures will take place roughly between 7:30-10:30 a.m. at the following locations:
Police said street parking in the area will be restricted, and motorists should be on the lookout for temporary “No Parking” signs. Illegally parked vehicles may be ticketed or towed.

Arlington County schools and government offices will close Monday, May 29 for Memorial Day.
County offices, courts, libraries, human services, the sheriff’s office and commuter stores will all be closed for the holiday. All community centers will be closed, while all parks grounds will be open.

Police will close roads for the annual Rolling Thunder motorcycle rally this weekend. Riders are scheduled to arrive later today at the event’s headquarters at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City.
On Sunday, Arlington and Virginia State Police will close Washington Blvd from 7 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. from I-395 to the Memorial Bridge. Meanwhile, Arlington National Cemetery will only be accessible from southbound George Washington Memorial Parkway or northbound Route 110.
Police say they expect higher attendance than usual at the rally and other events for Rolling Thunder’s 30th anniversary.

Update at 10:40 a.m. — The westbound lanes have reopened.
Washington Blvd is currently blocked in the area of 2nd Street S. due to a large fallen tree, according to scanner traffic.
Police are setting up roadblocks at Columbia Pike and Route 50 to divert traffic.
According to initial reports, the tree — located along the eastbound lanes — fell across all lanes of traffic around 10 a.m. One car was possibly struck by the tree but no injuries were reported.
Police and VDOT crews are working to reopen the westbound lanes; the eastbound lanes are likely to remain closed for an extended period of time.

Police have closed a section of N. Glebe Road where it intersects Lee Highway after road construction crews hit a gas line.
Crews accidentally hit the line near the Wells Fargo bank, leaving a distinct odor of gas in the surrounding area.
Officers have shut the northbound lanes of N. Glebe Road near the accident, while firefighters are on scene out of an abundance of caution.
Workers from Washington Gas are at the scene to fix the leak. The road construction continued as normal on other sections of N. Glebe Road.
Drivers should seek alternate routes and expect delays.
Updated 11:30 a.m. — Police have reopened Patrick Henry Drive.
Earlier: Emergency crews have closed part of Patrick Henry Drive in the Dominion Hills neighborhood due to downed power lines.
Patrick Henry Drive is closed between 9th Street N. and 9th Road N. where the live wires fell into the road just after 9:30 a.m.
A police officer at the scene confirmed that a truck or similarly high vehicle pulled down the power lines, which are laying in the roadway.
Workers from Dominion Virginia Power are on the way to the scene, but they had not arrived as of 10 a.m. Drivers should seek alternate routes.
Update at 8:40 p.m. — Glebe Road remains closed in both directions. Multiple Dominion units continue to repair the downed wires. Police officers at the scene couldn’t say how much longer the road will be closed, but they guessed it could easily be another hour.
Earlier: Emergency crews have closed part of N. Glebe Road north of Marymount University due to a downed power wire.

Emergency crews are waiting for Dominion Virginia Power to repair the line.
A police spokesperson says responders are investigating a leaning tree at the scene. There’s no word yet on whether the tree may have caused the power lines to topple.
