If you’re looking forward to an end to this week’s steamy weather, there’s good news and bad news.

It seems set to cool down a bit Saturday, but only because rain seems likely to return. Some weather watchers are even calling for downpours and flooding.

A reminder to think twice before hopping on the Metro this weekend, as major track work starts Saturday and lasts for the next two weeks. Sunday’s “Unite the Right 2” rally in D.C. will mean additional headaches for commuters, and D.C. officials are taking precautions to prepare for the arrival of white supremacists downtown. Arlington police say there aren’t any events planned in the county surrounding the event, but some county residents are taking some online action.

Keep the umbrellas handy for one last round of storms tonight, before things clear up a bit this weekend.

Sure, there’s another threat of major thunderstorms and floods, mirroring what we’ve had all week, but things should calm down a bit in the coming days.

Be sure to check out our event calendar for a look at what to do around Arlington while we have this reprieve from the rain.

The weather has been just about perfect the last few days, but it doesn’t seem meant to last this weekend.

Rain is set to move in Saturday, then linger throughout the D.C. region for the next week, so go find that umbrella.

Watch out for some big traffic backups if you’re planning on hitting the road on I-395 this weekend. And if you’re looking for things to do, head on over to our event calendar.

Hey now, All-Star Week starts today, so keep your eyes peeled for MLB’s glitterati around Arlington and D.C. this weekend.

The weather should be pretty hospitable to guests arriving for baseball’s midsummer break, though things are set to get hot and steamy soon enough.

After a Fourth of July-sized interruption to the weekly routine, the weekend, and end to this heat wave, is nearly here.

The D.C. area has seen seven straight days with highs above 90 degrees, but that finally seems set to wrap up as we move into the weekend.

Take a look at our event calendar to catch up on all the post-Independence Day goings on, but be sure to allow some extra time if you’re taking Metro anywhere around the county.

A midweek celebration of the nation’s independence is quite nearly upon us, but first, a hot and steamy weekend is on tap for Arlington.

It seems the D.C. area is in for a heat wave, with 90-degree temperatures and plenty of humidity in the forecast for the next few days.

It should be the ideal sort of weather to, say, hop on the dockless electric scooters popping up all over Arlington, or head to any one of the bevy of events around the county this weekend.

Or, if you’d rather stay inside and enjoy the A/C, you can catch up on our most popular stories of the past week:

Before we leave you for the week, a quick note to say we stand in solidarity with our fellow journalists in Annapolis today. The shooting at the Capital Gazette has touched everyone who works in the news business, and we’re thinking not only of those lost and their families, but everyone in the newsroom right now.

Some more showers are on the way this weekend, though Arlington seems set to avoid a total wash-out if you’re trying to get outside.

Storms will stick around tonight, even though more than a foot of rain has already plagued the D.C. region since mid-May, and could make Saturday a bit dreary as well. Sunday, however, should provide a few rays of sun.

Check out our event calendar if you need some ideas about things to do. If you’re headed to downtown Clarendon, be aware that some big drop-off and pick-up changes are now in effect. Or if you’re planning on swinging by the Arlington Cemetery, know that you won’t be able to get there by Metro.

And if you’re the owner of a wayward stuffed rabbit lost at the Taste of Arlington, county officials remain ready to arrange a reunion.

A heat wave is just around the corner, just in time for the weekend (and Father’s Day).

The forecast is set to be gorgeous for the next two days, before things get especially steamy Sunday.

It’s the perfect weather to, say, stop by a beer garden and crawfish boil, or check out the new Rosslyn observation deck. There are plenty of other events on tap this weekend too if you’re looking for something to do with the dads in your life.

In the meantime, check out some of our most popular stories of the last week:

Speaking of the Caps stopping in Clarendon with the Stanley Cup last Friday, there was more Capitals excitement in Arlington today. Alexander Ovechkin and Caps owner Ted Leonsis brought the Cup to the Arlington County Police Department for a quick photo opportunity.

A major D.C. sports team has won a championship for the first time since 1992, but Mother Nature is gearing up to, quite literally, rain on Caps celebrations this weekend.

If you’re looking to keep celebrating the Stanley Cup’s arrival in Washington, or simply heading out to buy some Caps championship gear, you may want to pack an umbrella. The Armed Forces Cycling Classic, the annual Capital Pride Parade and all the weekend’s associated Pride events may get a bit soggy as well, though Saturday morning events are expected to remain dry, for the most part.

Luckily, our event calendar has plenty of suggestions for other, indoor events this weekend. And you can always stay in with some of ARLnow’s top stories from the past week:

It might’ve been a short week (for most of us) but the weekend is here, and it feels just as sweet.

The weather should be nice tonight, but things will likely get a bit wetter Saturday — unbelievably, there is yet more flooding in the forecast.

That means you may want to consider watching the Caps game inside, and be sure to avoid all the traffic near Capital One Arena if you’re not going to Game 3.

If you’re not much of a hockey fan, you could always drop by Rosslyn’s new “parklet,” or even help a wayward stuffed bunny find its way home. Our event calendar has plenty of suggestions too.
