Hurricane Matthew caused catastrophic damage to our neighbors to the south. As we each do what we can to support their recovery efforts, it’s also a good time to remember to prepare our very own homes for the remainder of hurricane season (Nov. 30).

Virginia has had its share of hurricanes over the years – Isabel, Camille, Floyd, Fran, Irene, among others.

We’re in the heart of football season. (And yes, as an Arlington native and life-long ‘Skins fan, I am not particularly enjoying this post-losing-to-the-Cowboys week. Nonetheless…Hail!)

Of course you’d expect to hear that from me (a lifelong Arlingtonian), but there are always some legit rankings each year that seem to agree with me. This year it’s Niche.com that named Arlington No. 1, primarily thanks to its school system, transit infrastructure and leisure options.

A solid economic backbone typically equates to a solid housing market – and that’s just what we have here in Arlington.
