And just like that, it’s back to school time.

As a dad of two, this is always one of the most exciting weeks of the year for my family and so many families across Arlington County.

In addition to a rock-solid housing market and low unemployment rates, one of the other selling points for living in our area are the schools. Arlington Public Schools are consistently rated among the best districts in Virginia and many of our schools are recognized among the best in the nation.

It’s officially August and we’re on the homestretch of another sweltering summer.

We’ve made it through July and fall is just around the corner (Hallelujah!). Before you know it, winter and all of its icy/snowy madness will be here. And, no one wants to move in to a new home in the heart of a snowpocalypse.

Nearly 60 Arlington County homes have been reduced in price over the past week. In addition to the prices of select homes hitting new lows, take a look at the mortgage rates out there.

Rates continue to float around record lows (as of July 11), with the 30-year fixed rate floating at approximately 3.44 percent, 15-year rates at 2.68 percent and 5/1 adjustable-rate mortgages at 2.8 percent.

These rates are working in your – the homebuyer’s – favor. With a strong local market, bargains emerging weekly and mortgage rates hovering at favorable rates, now is the time to GET MORE out of your investment.
